Energy Efficient Heating and Cooling Products

Heating and cooling needs account for about 50% of a home’s typical energy use. What is SEER? It stands for “Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio”. Basically it tells you how efficiently it converts electricity to cooling comfort. The higher the SEER rating, the more efficient the system. By federal law all units must be a 13 SEER or higher. Let Bardi’s Comfort Consultant come to your home and perform a heat load calculation to insure the proper size unit is installed. This is a free service to our customers that may help you save money and increase Heating and Cooling Productsyour indoor comfort. What is AFUE? It stands for “Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency”. This rating tells you how much of your heating dollars are converted to heat energy put into your home and how much is lost up the flue pipe. Most older furnaces are 50% to 60% efficient. Federal law mandates that all furnaces being produced today be at least 80% efficient. Bardi offers several different One of the best ways to protect the environment is to purchase energy efficient products that require fewer energy resources to operate. Plus, not only will you make a difference to the environment, you’ll save on operating costs. Make sure your heating and cooling products have high energy efficiency ratings such as SEER and AFUE.

ENERGY STAR ProgramResidential HVAC Products

To help you save energy and money and make a difference for the environment, Bardi is proud to offer heating and air conditioning products with the ENERGY STAR label. What is ENERGY STAR? Products that earn the ENERGY STAR designation use less energy and prevent greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy. With energy costs and global warming top-of-mind for consumers, Bardi is committed to offering solutions that help consumers conserve energy and improve the quality of our environment. The typical household spends $1,900 a year on energy bills. With ENERGY STAR, you can save nearly $600 on energy bills. But more than saving energy, ENERGY STAR also makes a difference for the environment. Did you know that the average house can be responsible for twice the greenhouse gas emissions as the average car? That’s because every time you flip on a light switch, run your dishwasher, or turn on your air conditioner, you use energy, which means more greenhouse gas emissions from power plants. So the more energy we can save through energy efficiency, the more we help to reduce greenhouse gases and the risks of global warming. Meeting Government Standards Government standards and requirements continue evolving to require heating and cooling manufacturers to improve product efficiency and use environmentally friendly materials. From installing high efficiency total comfort systems, to keeping systems at optimum performance, Bardi is here to help!

  • Higher SEER Requirements for 2006

Like many consumer products that use energy, air conditioners and heat pumps are manufactured to meet or exceed minimum efficiency standards set by the U.S. Department of Energy. After nearly a decade with 10 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) as the minimum efficiency, January 23, 2006 marks the mandated increase to 13 SEER. Who will this affect? The 13 SEER minimum applies to all new equipment manufactured on or after January 23, 2006. You may continue to use your current system indefinitely, even if it operates below 13 SEER, but when it’s time to replace your system, only 13 SEER or higher models will be available. Higher SEER means cost-savings and energy efficiency For many homeowners, a 13 SEER air conditioner or heat pump will save money on each month’s electric bill. Exactly how much you can save will depend on the efficiency of your current system. For example, a 13 SEER product:

  • Delivers about 23% energy savings compared to 10 SEER models
  • Delivers about 8% energy savings compared to 12 SEER models

Actual savings will depend on the age, efficiency and condition of the unit being replaced, but if you are currently considering a new air conditioner or heat pump, it makes sense to start saving now with a 13 SEER product.
